On 28/05/2025, around 10:00am, CapFun's owner Nicolás, the Original Owners' Association president and solicitor, and the New Owners' Association president met at the Ayuntamiento de Cartagena (Town Hall) with Diego Ortega and his team, representing the council, in order to discuss the site facilities closure.
Below is a video followed by a translation, detailing the event.
It's presented and narrated by Diego Ortega, Cartagena Council Town Planning and Infrastructure Councilor.
Translation:
"This morning, first thing, we had a meeting with both Villas Caravaning Owners' Associations, as well as the company which owns the campsite.
We explained to all parties - as we had already done individually before - what state the Villas Caravaning Campsite is in, with its trade injunction since 2022, which has worsened with the placement of new facilities and the deterioration of certain facilities which were notified at the beginning of the year.
After they applied to the courts for a cautionary measure to halt the trade injunction, which was denied by the court, the Cartagena council was forced to carry out said trade injunction, in the interest of people's safety.
The dossier is then completed with the reports from the Fire Brigade and reports from the Municipal Technicians, who advise to cease activity, until a 'Plan Especial' is prepared, which organises the usage, the plots, and the buildings which are on the Villas Caravaning campsite.
We are commited to working with great expeditiousness, as soon as we receive information and technical documentation provided by the company which owns the campsite, with the objective of obtaining the municipal licence.
We have guaranteed that the council will be attentive when it comes to providing social assistance to those living on the campsite, and we have provided them with the reports referenced in the dossier: the state of the self-protecction and evacuation plan, and even the technical details regarding the electrical installation of the site."
