Fifth exchange of questions and answers

Details of the exchange

These questions were asked at a meeting with the site administrator at 11:30am. on 14/11/2022.
The conversation was transcribed to the best of our abilities; questions are in plain text and answers are in italics.

The questions and answers

  1. Has the council made any new statements regarding the campsite?

The council wants to see the report on the site first.
We have nearly finished this document, and we will make every effort to hand it in this month.

  2. Do we know yet when the new rules are coming out?

When we meet again with the council, and after handing them the report, we will discuss that.

  3. In the latest report from the original Owners Association it was said that the electric supply boxes are being checked to ensure nobody has more than 10 amps and that repeat offenders would be reported to the courts.
    Is that correct?

    Yes.
We are checking and replacing all the exisiting inadequate breakers (fuses).
Henceforth, we will have surprise checks at random times to make sure people keep respecting the rules.
When you increase your amps you not only break the rules but you also create a fire hazard and put yourself, your neighbours and everyone on camping at risk.
For this reason, we will prosecute those who alter their breakers from now on.

  4. It also stated that legal proceedings will be taken against people with roof terraces and second stories who haven't taken them down yet.
    Is that right?

    Yes.
People have had plenty of time to remove their second storeys and roof terraces - or at least let us know they intend to do so and ask for more time, which they haven't - so now we have to take the next step and take it to the courts.
Although there are still rules that have to be better defined, seconds storeys and roof terraces are not, and have never been, allowed - people have to realise this is a campsite.
We are also taking legal action against owners who owe a significant amount of community fees.
People have to be patient, though, as we have to separately list every single amount that's owed by a debtor on the court papers and this takes us some time to prepare.

  5. Is all the campsite wiring still going to be altered, or is that not going to happen anymore?

We still intend to do that, but until we have issued the aforementioned report to the council we can't start.
Right now we're not allowed to make any major alterations to our estate.
In the report we have listed this project as a major improvement to the site's safety, but the council have to approve it first.

  6. Are we still going to have another general owners' meeting in the near future?

    Yes.
If all goes well it'll be at the beginning of next year.

  7. Yo Opino has met with the council on their own.
How will that affect what's happening right now?

Yo Opino can meet with the council and discuss whatever they want, but they have to realise that they will have to abide by national and regional laws concerning campsites, like everyone else.

  8. Many of our members are prepared to invest a significant amount of time and energy in altering their parcelas to comply with the rules (when they come out), but first they want some form of guarantee that they will be able to stay even if other people don't comply.
Yet, you mentioned in the past that the council want to see people making an effort first.
Is this situation still the same?

Unfortunately I can't make any promises when the council won't give me any guarantees either.
From management we're are doing a lot of work and investing plenty of money to do what we can in order to make the site comply.
We do this with the belief that the site will keep going and that eventually we will sort out the illegal builds.

  9. Some of our members want to make considerable alterations to their properties.
    Is that allowed?

Don't make any structural modifications for now.
We are in a very difficult situation with the council and the last thing we want is for them to see building work going on right now.
Once the rules are out, people will know what they can and can't do.

Important announcement from the administrator

When we had the last fire, the items stored in the passage between the two most affected parcelas not only caught fire but they were also a hindrance for the people trying to put out the fire.
Please keep the walk ways around your parcela clear of boxes, bicycles, and other things which can catch fire or be an obstacle for firefighters.
